1.0   How?
Co-ordinated drive from Finland to France and back to Finland

Conditions for participation: A person interested in travelling either the full journey or a part of it together with the tour group and participate in the Gti-event organized in France can participate in the tour. The transportation vehicle should preferably represent an Xtreme car, but even normal cars (incl. travel wagons) are accepted. The main requirement is the interest to participate.

2.0   General
Do you fancy speciality cars, driving and travelling, and the possibility to meet new, interesting people? In that case the Euro Tour can offer you an opportunity to travel in group to possibly the largest Tuning event in Europe at the Magny Cours race circuit. A way to travel in an easier, safer, and more fun mode together with people with the same interest. A group of Vikings are starting a journey from Finland to spend part of their summer vacation on the roads of Europe, meeting like-minded people through the metropolis of Europe, driving, cruising, and having fun together.

This is NOT a Canon Ball-like illegal race, but a way to move around and spend quality time with old and new friends. The tour caravan/convoy is growing the further south we are moving, as more participants are joining in from various countries to the Euro Tour. The attraction of the cruising evenings will be glowing through all the stops in the various cities. No one knows for sure exactly who will appear, in what cars, and no one is in a hurry. In every metropolis there is however a person in charge, who has done his/her best in informing media and drumming information about the caravan approaching. The daily programs include: drive to the next country, maintenance of the cars, hotel registrations, and depending on the people in charge in each country, cruising evenings according to local customs.

We have also reserved a few hours per day in the programme in case you would like to meet up with friends or relatives on the way, or see some local attractions at any of the stops we are making on the way. The daily drive to the next stop is generally between 5-6 hours.

There is always a special charm in a first event like this one. Similar events are very rare in the world, and this one is a first one in Europe with this magnitude. There will be impressive internet pages made on the tour, which we on a daily basis will update with texts and pictures, as we are moving along on the Tour. People around the world can follow the progression of the Tour and send messages to the participants. Every participant from Scandinavia will receive a sticker for the car (participation number), and a a flag of your own country for the rear window and a sticker with the names of the drivers.

   3.0   What does it cost?
This is of course a very individual thing that can be decreased or increased according to personal taste and wallet. The organisers have made the same trip earlier that ended up at between € 1500 and € 2000 for two (2) persons. The largest expense item is the daily food and living, that varies from hotel to hotel. The largest items to calculate for are hotels (about €100/night), fuel for the driven stretch (from Helsinki 4000 km), Swedish/Danish bridge fees (about € 100) and ferry tickets between Finland and Sweden.

4.0   How do you get to participate and what do you get for it?
We would like to stress the the Euro Tour is not an event arranged in a turn-key fashion, but more of a route and a plan with a contact network that will help like-minded car enthusiasts to travel together from country to country. Every participant is responsible for his/her own vehicle, drive and expenses. The organiser has however laid out the route, time schedule and as much possible information about the event, that will contribute to the travelling and the enjoyment of the various events.

The participant can join for the whole tour or a part of it, and can depart from the group in between if so requested. Travelling together with the group is however also a point of security, as if anything would happen to the car on the route, the closest help can usually be reached from the others participating in the tour. If any larger misadventure would occur, the organiser will do its best efforts to help with the best possible transportation and connection services. Our starting point is that by anticipatory arrangements nothing out of the ordinary would happen, but there is a reserve plan just in case.

The participants account for their own expenses, which mainly constitute of; daily meals and accommodations, fule, bridge fees and ferry tickets (Fin-Swe), and admission to the Gti-event area and Autostadt.

The participation fee to the Euro Tour is € 55 (Euros)/car - 2 persons, for which you get the following;

  • Euro Tour number and sticker to the car, the names of the drivers on a sticker and the flag of your own country.
  • Euro Tour Info package, where e.g. info about the cities visited (incl. hotel offers and other useful info). Also info about travelling in general, various events, and special offerings (e.g. ferry tickets).
  • Euro Tour "Goodie Bag"-package from the sponsors of the event, incl. car maintenance products needed on the journey.
  • Euro Tour-Viking status, as evidence for having travelled the whole Tour. The information placed on the web-page.
  • Euro Tour own official event T-shirt.

Registration possible in principle until the day of departure. However, it is important to keep in mind that the sooner you register, the more secure you can be about hotel-bookings, ferry-tickets (concerning only travellers from Finland) etc.
